Manchester-based Specialist Sports Firm Triumph at Northern Enterprise Awards

Manchester-based Skylab has been named Best Sports Technology Firm at the third annual Northern Enterprise Awards for 2021, placing the organisation amongst some of the very best in both the sports and sports technology sectors across the north’s thriving business landscape.

The accolade, which aims to recognise sports technology firms disrupting the industry, was awarded to Skylab for its work with leading sporting organisations both in the UK and around the world. Clients include a number of national governing bodies, premier league teams, a Formula 1 outfit and sporting organisations across the UK and around the world.

Skylab offers industry-leading digital strategy and web development services for clients such as England Athletics, Red Bull Advanced Technology and Institute of Swimming. Skylab: Elite Performance Analysis, the sports performance analysis division of Skylab, meanwhile offer top of the line Performance Analysis and bespoke web platforms to elite sporting clients.

Skylab works with these organisations - and many more - to help them form smart, data-driven digital strategies that deliver measurable value such as the development of new revenue streams and greater conversions. This is achieved through the tailored social media presences, use of video platforms, and the building of digital products like websites and mobile apps.

While Skylab was up against stiff competition from renowned regional organisations across Northern England, the Skylab team was recognised for their client dedication, innovation, business growth, strong online reputation, customer feedback, and business performance, amongst other criteria.

Chloe Waddington, Head of Business at Skylab, says "The unique combination of services offered by Skylab and Skylab: Elite Performance Analysis allows us to provide effective, custom-made web-development and sports performance analysis solutions to the Sports Industry. We are immensely proud that this potential has been recognised by SME and the Northern Enterprise Awards in our Best Sports Technology Firm award. We at Skylab look forward to continuing to bring truly disruptive, bespoke offerings to the sports industry as we enter 2022".

Jack Mason, Group CEO at Inc & Co: I'm delighted to see Skylab win the Best Sports Technology Firm, as this recognises the hard work of the people behind the brand. Skylab and Skylab: EPA are disruptive and unique in their approach to sports technology and this award proves that. Watch out, as Skylab have a lot up their sleeve for 2022. - Jack Mason, Group CEO, Inc & Co.

Hosted by small and medium-sized business publication SME News, the Northern Enterprise Awards was launched to celebrate the most promising and successful SMEs across the north, and highlight the innovation that can be born from smaller regional businesses located outside of the capital.

This year, the panel of judges consisted of SME Commercial Director Jane Henderson, Head of Research Jeremy Roe, News Lead Researcher Martyn Walters, and Awards Team Leader Steven Simpson. As always, the judging process was stringent, with chosen nominees assessed on a wide range of evidence that helped them to stand out within their own specialist fields.

Now in their third year, the Northern Enterprise Awards take place annually, and work to promote some of the very best innovations to come from the North of England; a rapidly emerging region in the UK’s business environment.

Skylab is part of the Inc & Co Group, a business group that has a wide range of business, including data analytics firm for charities and not for profits, Wood for Trees.
